Germany has the lowest youth unemployment in the EU

Germany has one of the lowest unemployment rates within the EU-27. 3.4% of the labour force (15- to 74-year-olds) were unemployed in July 2024. The lowest unemployment rates were recorded in Czechia (2.7%) and Poland (2.9%).

In the EU-27 a total of 13.1 million citizens were without employment in July 2024. This represents an unemployment rate of 6.0%. The euro area seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 6.4% and remained higher than the EU level. The highest unemployment rates were recorded in Spain (11.9%) and Greece (9.9%)

The youth unemployment rate was 14.5% in the EU. The lowest rates were observed in Germany with 6.6%, the Netherlands with 8.6% and Malta with 8.7%, while the highest were recorded in Spain (25.5%) and Sweden (24.4%).
