Germany is the largest EU milk producer - with an output of around 31.9 million tons of cows’ milk in 2022. The EU milk production amounted to 144.9 million tons.
The proportion of agricultural land designated to organic farming is slowly increasing within the EU. However organic livestock is still very much a niche market in the European Union.
