10 March 2021 Federal Government achieved four of its twelve sustainability goals for 2020

Today, 10 March 2021, the Federal Government has adopted the German Sustainable Development Strategy (DNS) 2021. To coincide with this, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) has checked to what extent the Federal Government achieved its goals for 2020. In the 72 DNS target areas, twelve goals were to be concretely achieved by 2020. The results regarding the goals of the German Sustainable Development Strategy are available in the new indicator report “Sustainable Development in Germany” and on the DNS online platform.

Monitoring of the German Sustainability Strategy by the Federal Statistical Office

As part of the implementation of the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of Agenda 2030 at the national level, the Federal Government fundamentally revised the sustainability strategy in 2016 and has been regularly updated since then. Every two years, the Federal Statistical Office reports in detail on the development of the national sustainability indicators to measure the achievement of the goals of the German Sustainability Strategy in the context of so-called indicator reports. These contain detailed descriptions of all indicators, their development and status, as well as further analyses.
