According to results of quarterly cash statistics, revenue of the core and extra budgets of the overall public budget rose by 5.7% to 448.8 billion euros in the first quarter of 2024. Expenditure decreased by 0.2% to 499.7 billion euros. This was a cash deficit - as defined in public finance statistics - of 50.9 billion euros in the first quarter of 2024.
