27 March 2023 Wine production in 2022: increase by half a million hectolitres to just under 9 million

Winegrowers in Germany produced 8.94 million hectolitres of wine and must in 2022. The wine and must production exceeded the previous year's level by 491,800 hectolitres, or 6%, according to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). Compared with the average of the years 2016 to 2021, 3.5% more wine and must were produced in 2022 (+304,600 hectolitres).

On July 31st, 2023, 12.1 million hectolitres of wine were stored in the cellars of producers and resellers. Thus Wine stocks are higher than in the previous year (+ 927,000 hectolitres or + 8.3%).
