Definition: The youth unemployment rate relates the proportion of the unemployed labour force aged 15 to 24 to total unemployment. The labour force consists of all employed and unemployed persons of working age. A person is considered unemployed, if they were not employed during the reference period, but were actively seeking employment in the four weeks prior to the survey and were able to take up a new position within two weeks.
