Definition: The secondary school pupil-teacher ratio is the number of pupils enrolled in secondary school divided by the number of secondary school teachers. This data is based on registers and statistical censuses carried out in schools. Full time equivalents are used to calculate the indicator in order to take account for part-time employment. Secondary education refers to levels 2 (lower secondary) and 3 (upper secondary) of the International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED). Most recent data are provisional in some cases.
