Spatial coverage: Data is available for more than 200 countries and for numerous aggregates (e.g. South Asia, eurozone, least developed countries etc.).
Statistical range: The WDI database with focus on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) consists of more than 1,000 indicators on topics such as population, environment, government finance, national accounts, social policy statistics, development assistance, balance of payment, exchange rates, prices, financial statistics and trade.
Periodicity / time series: All indicators are available annually as time series and go back as far as 1960.
Charges / registration: The entire database (including more than 1,000 indicators) is available free of charge. The latest WDI publication is also available as PDF-download.
Further information: The WDI database provides a large amount of international comparable statistics. Some time series are incomplete. But for international data comparisons it is an important reference guide. The data featured here is quite often compiled by other UN bodies.
