WIESBADEN – Host country India presented itself as a rapidly growing world economy at the G20 Summit in New Delhi on 9 and 10 September 2023. India became more important for Germany as its trading partner also in the first seven months of 2023. Goods to the value of 8.7 billion euros were imported from India to Germany from January to July 2023. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that imports therefore increased by 1.7% compared with the same period a year earlier, which is due to higher imports of mineral oil products. Accounting for 1.1% of total imports, India ranked 23th among Germany’s major suppliers of goods, higher than Viet Nam (7.9 billion euros) and the Republic of Korea (7.6 billion euros). Among the non-EU countries, India ranked ninth.
