- Foreign trade in heat pumps increases: imports +26.5% in 2022 on a year earlier, exports +35.3%

WIESBADEN – The demand for heat pumps as an alternative to oil or gas heating systems continues to be high. This is reflected also by the production of heat pumps in Germany. Nearly 243,200 heat pumps were produced in Germany in the first three quarters of 2022, according to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). This is an increase of 48.9% compared with the same period of the previous year. Just over 163,300 heat pumps were produced in the first three quarters of 2021. Compared with 2017, the number of heat pumps produced in the first three quarters more than doubled (+132.9%) in 2022.
