WIESBADEN – Since Russia attacked Ukraine on 24 February 2022, millions of people have left the country. Roughly 1.1 million arrivals of people from Ukraine were recorded in Germany in 2022. This is reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on the basis of provisional results and an ad-hoc evaluation of migration statistics. Just over two thirds (68%) of the immigrants came between March and May 2022, that is, in the first three months after the attack.
