- Start-ups of larger businesses down 6.1% compared with the pre-crisis year of 2019
- Number of small business start-ups up by 4.9% on a year earlier but down by 15.5% on the pre-crisis year of 2019
- Complete business shutdowns increased by 7.0% from a year earlier and decreased by 8.8% compared with the pre-crisis level
WIESBADEN – In 2022, just over 115,100 businesses were started in Germany whose legal form and number of employees suggest that they have greater economic importance. Based on an evaluation of business notifications, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this was a decrease of 9.3% compared with the previous year, which was heavily impacted by the Covid-19 crisis. The number of larger business start-ups decreased by 6.1% compared with the pre-crisis year of 2019.
