- Number of building permits for dwellings issued from January to November 2022 down 5.7% compared with the same period a year earlier
- Building permits for new construction issued from January to November 2022: -15.9% for single-family houses, -10.1% for two-family houses, +1.2% for multi-family houses
WIESBADEN - In November 2022, the construction of 24,304 dwellings was permitted in Germany. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this was a decrease of 16.3%, or 4,716 building permits, compared with November 2021. As a result, building permits for a total of 321,757 dwellings were issued from January to November 2022. That was a decrease of 5.7%, or 19,280 dwellings, from the same period a year earlier (January to November 2021: 341,037). The results include building permits for both dwellings in new buildings and new dwellings in existing buildings.
