WIESBADEN – According to an estimate of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the real (price-adjusted) retail turnover in Germany was 0.3% lower in 2022 than in the record year of 2021, while the nominal (not price-adjusted) turnover was 8.2% higher. The difference between the results in real and nominal terms reflects Inflation rate at +10.0% in November 2022 in retail trade. 2021 saw the highest annual turnover ever achieved since the start of the time series. In that year, turnover grew a real 0.8% on 2020 and 5.6% on 2019.
