- Electricity prices up by only 1.9% due to reduced EEG surcharge
- Gas prices charged to non-household customers (such as businesses and public authorities): +38.9% on the 2nd half of 2021

WIESBADEN – Households in Germany paid an average 8.04 cents per kilowatt hour of natural gas in the first six months of 2022. Consumers were charged an average 33.50 cents per kilowatt hour of electricity. Gas prices thus increased by 17.7% and electricity prices by 1.9% on the second half of 2021, according to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). There was a much higher rise in the gas prices charged to non-household customers (+38.9%), mainly businesses and public authorities, compared with the second half of 2021, and they paid 19.3% more for electricity.
