WIESBADEN – Enterprises in industry (excluding construction) invested just under 12.1 billion euros in environmental protection in Germany in 2020. That was 13.5% of their total investments. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that industry thus invested 3.6% more in environmental protection than a year earlier. Total investments of industrial enterprises were down by 7.5 billion euros (-7.7%) in the same period, reaching 89.7 billion euros. Environmental investments are investments in assets which serve to reduce, prevent or eliminate emissions into the environment or enable resources to be used more carefully.
