WIESBADEN – Commercial slaughterhouses in Germany produced just under 3.5 million tonnes of meat in the first half of 2022, according to provisional results. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this was a year-on-year decline of 7.9%. A total of 25.8 million pigs, cattle, sheep, goats and horses as well as 353.2 million chickens, turkeys and ducks were slaughtered in the slaughterhouses in the first half of 2022.
