WIESBADEN – Demand for heat pumps and solar thermal systems has further increased since war broke out in Ukraine. Highly qualified professionals are indispensable for installing and maintaining such equipment and systems. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the number of persons in employment working in the heating and plumbing sector has decreased in the last ten years. A total of roughly 275,000 people all over Germany worked in heating and plumbing occupations in 2021 – a decrease of 9.4% on 2012. At the time, just under 303,000 people had such a job. In comparison, the number of all persons in employment rose in the same period.
