WIESBADEN – Germany exports markedly less plastic waste than a few years ago. In 2021, just over 766,200 tonnes of plastic waste was exported from Germany – that is one quarter less (-25.2%) than in 2020. At the time, just over one million tonnes had been exported, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). In a ten-year comparison, exports of plastic waste were down by almost half. 1.48 million tonnes were exported in 2011.
