- Number of combustion engine cars produced dropped by 23% in the same period
- Exports of electric cars rose considerably by 92% in 2021 year on year
WIESBADEN – Electric mobility is booming – also due to the government’s financial incentive for the purchase of electric vehicles and the tax reliefs granted. Germany produced approximately 328,000 purely electrically powered cars worth 13.7 billion euros in 2021, according to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). That was an increase of 85.8% in the number of cars compared with a year earlier, and of 268.0% compared with 2019. For comparison: nearly 176,400 electric cars worth 8.0 billion euros were produced in Germany in 2020 and 89,000 electric cars to the value of 3.1 billion euros in 2019.
