WIESBADEN – In 2021, a total of 526.4 million euros of aviation tax - also called “flight ticket tax” - was payable in Germany, according to the tax returns of airlines. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that revenue from this tax increased by 175.0 million euros, or 49.8%, compared with a year earlier, but was still less than half (-55.7%) of the revenue recorded in 2019, the year before the Covid-19 crisis.
