Press Energy prices: high increases at all stages in the economic process

WIESBADEN – Uncertainties in the energy markets and the tight supply of natural gas before Russia’s attack on Ukraine contributed to high increases in energy prices. In February 2022, energy prices rose strongly on February 2021 at all stages of the economic process. Imported energy cost 129.5% more than in the same month of the previous year, the prices of energy produced in Germany were up by 68.0%, and consumers had to pay 22.5% more for household energy and motor fuels than in February 2021, according to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).
