- Barn systems still are the predominant farming method
- Increase in organic eggs of 10.4% from the previous year
WIESBADEN – In 2021, roughly 13.0 billion eggs were produced in enterprises in Germany which had at least 3,000 places for laying hens. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was a year-on-year increase of 0.8%.
As in previous years, organic egg production continued to gain importance in 2021. Compared with 2020, production increased by 10.4% to 1.7 billion eggs.
