WIESBADEN – The per-pupil amount spent on education in public schools from the public budgets averaged 8,500 euros in 2020, according to provisional results. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was an increase of just over 200 euros (+2.8%) on 2019. Examining the amount in a breakdown by type of expenditure shows that staff costs accounted for a large proportion (6,800 euros), while the remaining 1,700 euros were spent on investments and continuous material expenditure.
