- Nearly two thirds (65%) of the care and support staff of home care services and residential facilities are in marginal or part-time employment
- 85% of the staff are women
- Number of persons employed has risen by 40% since 2009
WIESBADEN – The caring profession has come particularly into focus during the coronavirus pandemic. In 2019, 954,000 people were employed in residential care homes or home care and support services, 616,000 of whom worked part-time. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this represents a proportion of 65%.
