WIESBADEN – Delivery bottlenecks slow down the German industry in 2021. A new dossier (in german) of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on material shortages, new orders, production and prices in industry illustrates the current situation and contrasts it with past business cycles. The analysis is based on short-term economic indices and price indices compiled by the Federal Statistical Office and the Federal Office for Goods Transport as well as on results of surveys conducted, among others, by the ifo Institute for Economic Research concerning shortages of raw materials and intermediate products.
