Press release No. 404 of 26 August 2021
WIESBADEN – Building land in Germany has never been as expensive as in 2020. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the average price of one square metre of developed building land was 199 euros. In 2010, the price per square metre had been 130 euros. A considerable price differential is observed, depending on the Land and the municipality size. In the non-city Länder of Bayern and Baden-Württemberg, those buying land had to pay particularly high prices for one square metre of building land (349 euros and 245 euros, respectively) in 2020. In Sachsen-Anhalt, Thüringen and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, only a fraction of that amount had to be paid. Price there ranged between 46 euros and 63 euros.
