• 11% of the agricultural area is controlled by enterprise groups, marked difference between western and eastern Germany
• Rental prices markedly up, especially for new leasing contracts and special crops
WIESBADEN – Share deals by enterprise groups regarding agricultural holdings play a new and increasingly important role for answering the question “Who owns agriculture?”. Within the scope of the 2020 Census of Agriculture, data were collected for the first time on whether agricultural holdings belong to such enterprise groups. According to those data, more than a third (36%) of the agricultural holdings with the legal form of a legal person or partnership were part of an enterprise group.
