WIESBADEN – The number of holdings involved in organic livestock farming is increasing. Based on the final results of the 2020 Census of Agriculture, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the number of holdings with organic livestock farming has increased by 41%, from 12,300 to 17,300, in the past decade. In 2020, one in ten of the total 168,800 agricultural holdings involved in livestock farming in Germany was an organic farm. In 2019, this applied to no more than 6% of the holdings.
