WIESBADEN – On 1 July 2021 the Act on Statistical Surveys of Time Use (Time Use Survey Act, ZVEG) will enter into force. In cooperation with the statistical offices of the Länder, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) has collected data on the time use of people living in Germany about every ten years since the 1990s. The latest survey was held in 2012/13. Now a new legal basis ensures the regular conduct of this voluntary survey. In 2022, the time use survey will thus not be held as a survey for special purposes (Section 7 of the Federal Statistics Act) anymore but have a legal basis of its own.
