Press Declining pig population: -5.5% on November 2020

Heads of cattle also declining by 1.1%

WIESBADEN – On the reference date of 3 May 2021, 24.6 million pigs were kept in Germany. Based on provisional results, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the number of pigs was down by 1,430,600, or 5.5%, compared with the last survey on 3 November 2020. Compared with the relevant number recorded on 3 May 2020, the pig population decreased by 840,400 or 3.3%.
