WIESBADEN – In 2019, the establishments of the industry and service sectors generated a turnover of 73.6 billion euros in Germany from goods, services and construction operations for environmental protection. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the turnover achieved in the environmental protection sector was 3.1% higher than in 2018. The number of persons employed in the production of goods and services for environmental protection purposes amounted to 305,000 (measured in full-time equivalents). This means that the number of green jobs increased by 5.4% compared with the previous year. Hence, environmental protection is also an important factor in the labour market.
