WIESBADEN – Rising costs in the health sector, noticeable effects of the coronavirus pandemic, low interest rates: there are manifold reasons why private health insurance contributions went up. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the contributions to private health insurance increased by 5.3% in March 2021 on the same month a year earlier. For comparison: the change rate of consumer prices as a whole was 1.7% in March 2021 compared with March 2020.
