WIESBADEN – As reported by the Federal Statistical Office, the average household price for electricity was 31.16 cent per kilowatt-hour in the second half year 2020. The average household natural gas price in the second half year 2020 was 6.12 cent per kilowatt-hour. Compared to the first half of the year of 2020, electricity prices fell by 2.4%, gas prices rose by 2.2%.
Depending on the annual consumption, the prices differ considerably. Households with an annual electricity consumption of less than 1 000 kilowatt-hour had to pay 44.20 cent per kilowatt-hour (-7.5% compared to the first half year of 2020), households with an annual consumption of more than 15 000 kilowatt-hour only 25.23 cent per kilowatt-hour (-2.2% compared to the first half year of 2020). Households with an annual natural gas consumption of less than 20 gigajoule had to pay 8.31 cent per kilowatt-hour (+0.2% compared to the first half year of 2020), with an annual consumption of more than 200 gigajoule the average price was 5.33 cent per kilowatt-hour (-0.7% compared to the first half year of 2020).

The average electricity price for non-housholds without value added taxes (VAT) and other recoverable taxes was 15.08 cent per kilowatt-hour (+1.3% compared to the first half year 2010). The average natural gas price without VAT and other recoverable taxes for non-household customers was 2.67 cent per kilowatt-hour (-2.9% compared to the first half year 2020).
