- Caesarean rate in Germany at 29.6%
- Saarland has the highest proportion of deliveries by Caesarean section, Sachsen the lowest
- Caesarean rate almost doubled in Germany since 1991
WIESBADEN – Almost one in three of the roughly 748,500 women who delivered in a hospital in Germany in 2019 gave birth to their child by Caesarean section. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the Caesarean rate thus was 29.6% for the whole of Germany. Compared with the previous year, it rose slightly (2018: 29.1%).
