Press release No. 137 of 18 March 2021
WIESBADEN – Mobility in Germany in the first half of March 2021 (Weeks 9 and 10 from 1 to 14 March) was by 13% below the pre-crisis level of March 2019. This means that the upward trend recorded in the second half of February 2021 (15 to 26 February), when mobility was just 8% below pre-crisis level, did not continue. This is shown by a special evaluation of experimental data carried out by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) to represent current mobility changes during the coronavirus pandemic. The results also show that mobility in the population rose only insignificantly after the easing of corona restrictions adopted by the Federation and the Länder on 3 March 2021.
