WIESBADEN – In 2019, 72 kilograms of packaging waste per capita were collected from private final users in Germany. This was an average increase of 4 kilograms per person compared to 2018. According to provisional results of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the total amount of packaging waste, which is collected mainly in the yellow bin, in glass or paper containers separately from residual waste, increased by almost 0.3 million tonnes to 5.9 million tonnes in 2019.
