WIESBADEN – As a result of the continuing lockdown, turnover in the non-financial business economy in Germany was considerably down in January 2021 compared with the previous month. Based on provisional data, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the nominal (not price adjusted) turnover declined by a seasonally and calendar adjusted 8.6%. Having increased continuously after its lowest level was reached in April 2020, turnover in the non-financial business economy has now declined again; in January 2021 it was 3.7% below the level of February 2020, that is the month before restrictions were imposed because of the coronavirus pandemic in Germany.
