- Closure of restaurants and cancellation of major events have an impact especially in April (-17.3%), May (-13.0%) and November (-14.1%)
WIESBADEN – In 2020, the year of the coronavirus pandemic, the beer producing and storing establishments in Germany sold roughly 8.7 billion hectolitres of beer. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was a decrease in beer sales of 5.5%, or 508.2 million litres, compared with 2019. These figures do not include non-alcoholic beers, malt beverages or beer imported from countries outside the European Union (EU).
