WIESBADEN – Against the background of working from home, homeschooling, closed restaurants and canteens, ready to eat meals are much in demand. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that approximately 1.1 million tonnes of ready to eat meals were produced in Germany from January to September 2020, an increase of just under 50,300 tonnes (+4.9%) on the same period of the previous year. In contrast, production remained nearly unchanged (+0.1%) from January to September 2019 compared with the same period a year earlier.
