59% of the 10 to 15 year olds used learning platforms in the 1st quarter of 2020 (1st quarter of 2019: 8%)

WIESBADEN - In the coronavirus crisis, digital learning is far more popular than ever before - especially at secondary schools. In the first quarter of 2020, 59% of the 10 to 15 year olds communicated with their teachers and other pupils through learning platforms or portals. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this figure is more than seven times as high as last year (first quarter of 2019: 8%). 72% of the pupils and students aged 16 or over used this way of communication for learning purposes. In this age group, the proportion doubled compared with the same quarter a year earlier (first quarter of 2019: 35%).
