Press release No. 416 of 21 October 2020
WIESBADEN – Slightly more than one in five persons in dependent employment (21%) worked in the low-wage sector in Germany in April 2018. This means that roughly eight million jobs were low-wage jobs (pay of less than a gross 11.05 euros per hour). The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was an increase of 393,000 jobs compared with April 2014. The proportion of low-wage jobs in all jobs was unchanged.
