WIESBADEN – At the end of 2019, approximately 504,400 households in Germany received housing allowance. These were 1.2% of all households. At the end of 2018, the number of households receiving housing allowance amounted to roughly 548,000 (1.3% of all households). The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the number of recipient households declined by 8.0% compared with 2018.
