WIESBADEN – In 2019, the public prosecution offices in Germany completed roughly 4.9 million criminal investigation proceedings. This number was similar to the number of proceedings completed in 2018 (also about 4.9 million). Offences against property accounted for just under a third (31.7%) of the criminal proceedings completed. This was followed by road traffic offences which accounted for nearly a fifth (18.2%), crimes against life or physical integrity at 9.4%, and offences against the Narcotics Act at 8.7%.
