Press Percentage of under-3-year-olds in child care: rural districts in Sachsen-Anhalt rank first in Germany

New maps of the statistical offices show care situation at district level

WIESBADEN – New interactive maps of the statistical offices of the Federation and the Länder show the care situation of children of different age groups in urban and rural districts. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the percentages of under-three-year-olds in child care were highest in Sachsen-Anhalt on the reference day of 1 March 2019. The Börde rural district ranked first (62.4%), followed by the Wittenberg rural district (62.3%) and the Salzlandkreis (62.2%). Regarding children aged two years, Rostock, a town not attached to an administrative district, showed the highest percentage of children in child care (99.0%). The percentage of one-year old children in child care was highest in the Spree-Neiße rural district in Brandenburg (84.5%). All results shown in the new maps are available for download.
