WIESBADEN – For most children the start of the new school year means that they will again go to school every day despite the COVID-19 pandemic. However, digital learning at home will remain important not only for risk groups but also in the case of local lockdowns. According to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the income of families largely determines to which extent they have the required computer equipment available. Only a good half (46%) of households with at least one child and a net income of under 2,000 had’t a tablet in 2019. For households with a monthly income of 5,000 to 18,000 euros, it was four out of five (82%).
