WIESBADEN – The number of families with minor children in Germany amounted to 8.2 million in 2019. Based on microcensus results, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was the same number as ten years ago in 2009. Compared with 1999 - 20 years ago - the number declined by 1.1 million. In 2019, a total of 29.7 million people lived in families with minor children. These included the parents of the children, siblings (incl. those aged over 18 years) and the minor children themselves.
