  • Number of rail passengers down by roughly 40% in March 2020 year on year

WIESBADEN - In the past few weeks, many enterprises engaged in public bus and rail passenger transport have reduced their transport services as the relevant demand has declined due to the corona crisis.

To provide an early estimate of the extent to which the number of passengers has fallen, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) has evaluated, in advance, the data of some large enterprises that are already in place. On this basis, the number of passengers in public short-distance passenger transport by bus and rail can be expected to decline by roughly 11% in the first quarter of 2020.
