WIESBADEN – To achieve the climate goals in Germany, the proportion of electricity produced from renewable energy sources is to increase to 60% by 2035. This will require additional plants for the production of electricity from renewable sources. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that turnover from the production of goods, technologies and services enabling the use of renewable energy sources was down 19.0% to 19.8 billion euros in 2018 compared with a year earlier. This decline was almost only due to the slump in turnover in the wind power industry. Turnover from the manufacture, installation and maintenance of wind power stations decreased by 29.9% to 12.7 billion euros compared with 2017.
