WIESBADEN – The Berlin International Film Festival is one of the largest public film festivals of the world. Both film fans and the German and international film industry will meet in Berlin from 20 February to 1 March 2020. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that in 2015 the German film industry comprised over 15,000 enterprises liable to pay tax. The film industry includes, among other things, the branches of motion picture, video and television programme production, post-production, distribution, projection and renting. They achieved a turnover of 8.9 billion euros (not including turnover tax). More than half of the amount (4.9 billion euros) was achieved by the 10,000 film production enterprises liable to pay tax - that is, the enterprises directly engaged in the production of motion pictures, videos and television programmes.
